Space race is self-explanatory, it is a race that the winner is the one who launches the las spaceship module (phoenix module), normally, the space race doesn't involve any kind of battle, just some rapid attacks to mine the opponents resources. The reason is that space technologies take a lot of resources, impeding others types of resource use.
