Mark

Events Manual Multiplayer Outpost 2 RTS Basics WON
The term refers to a method of timekeeping within Outpost 2. Found under the Communications tab on the right side of the screen during gameplay. Located at the top of the Communications prompt, the current mark is displayed as XX: Current Mark.
One Mark is equal to 100 "ticks", with each tick being one cycle of data processing within the game.
The mark system is the same across a multiplayer network, as one mark is calculated per game tick. The speed at which one mark passes is dependent on network latency, in single player games it is dependent on the CPU speed of the local computer. One mark is roughly one normal second when the game is run at normal speed.
Current Mark is displayed as a means for all players in a network game to have a common time reference. Players commonly agree to perform specific actions on a particular mark such as attack or cease-fire. In-game events also occur at specific marks and are seen most often in the campaign as triggers (player input or events which "trigger" the game AI to respond by performing a scripted action) or in colony games as disasters or the emergence of The Blight.
